Fighting Confessions

Jun 3, 2019 – Jun 1, 2020

If you are arrested and you confess, can you still beat the case?
It is very difficult to beat criminal charges when you've already confessed to committing the crimes charged. It can be done though. A motion to suppress the confession must be filed. One of the ways a defendant can get a confessio...

Every day we face a problem that does not seem to be going away. If the police come across you legally carrying a firearm they will stop you. They will probably harass you. They might misstate the law on firearms, and they might even take your gun and your carry permit away from you. Depending on...

If the police want to question you, you should assume that they think you did something. It is not against the law to simply say to the police, "I will not speak with you without my attorney present." In fact, if the police take you into custody, it is a violation of the 6th and 14th Amendments o...

Criminal Defense

  • Misdemeanors

Misdemeanor charges are considered to be less serious than other offenses such as felonies and homicides in the state of Pennsylvania. The penalties for misdemeanors include probation, fines and in some instances jail time. It is my duty as your attorney to do my best to reduce your exposure to penalties and to beat your case.
  • M1 - 1st Degree Misdemeanor

The maximum penalty for first degree misdemeanors in Pennsylvania can be up to five years in jail with an associated fine of no more than $10,000. These 1st-degree misdemeanors are the most serious of misdemeanor crimes.
  • M2 - 2nd Degree Misdemeanor

For second-degree misdemeanors in Pennsylvania, the penalty could be up to two years in jail along with a fine not exceeding $5,000. This category of crime includes resisting arrest, simple assault, giving false statements to the authorities, recklessly endangering another person, theft of property valued greater than $50 but not exceeding a monetary value of $200, as well as other transgressions.
  • M3 - 3rd Degree Misdemeanor

Up to one year in jail accompanied by a fine of up to $2,500, is the penalty in Pennsylvania for third-degree misdemeanors. Although being the least serious of these types of offenses, they are still classified as criminal offenses and include presenting false identification to police, property theft below the value of $50, disorderly conduct, defiant trespassing, harassment, and other such offenses.
  • Felony

Pennsylvania is very strict about its most important laws, and felony charges are very stern. Convicts are incarcerated for years and sentences can range from moderate to severe. Serious charges require a tough defense to beat, and the consequences of failing will seriously change a life. Many defendants struck a plea bargain because they did not have faith in their lawyer to defend them or else thought their lawyer was biased. There is no reason to have to put up with disloyal advocates. A life is at stake, possibly your own. Everyone has the right to a competent and faithful representative. Lawyers have to have a reputation for objectivity and trustworthiness. A lot of information is given to a person that would not normally be given to a judge or prosecution attorney. The lawyer working with you cannot be just another interrogator. They cannot be assumed to be just a part of the system. Trust a firm that is independent and works for its clients and nobody else.

There is not enough space on this review page to say all the good that I would like to say about this Attorney. He is absolutely outstanding. I contacted him through a referral from another attorney for what I believed to be a VOP for my son. I called him on a Saturday morning & received a return call by 2:00 that afternoon. After speaking with him on his free time, I hired him. As it turned out, my son needed representation for more than a VOP, he needed to have his probation term in Phila. modified due to outstanding charges that he will be sentenced for in New Jersey. After hearing this attorney's price to represent my son, I will admit I was somewhat skeptical. The reason for that was because the fee he quoted was so fair, it was unbelievable. I am a legal secretary in NJ & if I presented my son's case to an attorney in my area, I would have been charged at least 5 times more than what this attorney charged. Nonetheless, I moved forward with him representing my son & believe me ...
