This reminds me alot like going to restaurants in China all over again. The service is very friendly and considerate, and the food is very authentic. They would also modify to your liking. Would recommend!

This place needs some kind of award ASAP. Amazing authentic Hunan food, can’t even compare to any else in America. This has satisfied my craving for food from my hometown for as long as I can remember. The owner and staff are the friendliest and most caring. Food is served fast and tastes absolutely amazing. The plating is exquisite, with the use of clay pots, bowls and warming trays giving the already mouth watering food a great look. My photos do not do the food justice. If you’re looking for something authentically Hunan, the 镭辣椒皮蛋 and 吊锅腊鸭 bring back memories of 邵阳 with just one taste. Let this place demonstrate what true hometown cooking tastes, feels and looks like.

Recently, we discovered Yixiang Hunan Gourmet, a newly opened restaurant in Malden, MA, near my son’s house. It’s located in a neighborhood with a reasonably sized Chinese community, rather than on a busy commercial street. Since it’s so close, we decided to give it a try. I was told the restaurant has only been open for a couple of months. The environment immediately reminded me of a local Chinese restaurant in China—simple, comfortable, and very authentic. One dish that really caught my eye was the green pepper stir-fried with century egg, because we had just enjoyed this dish a few months ago in China. The flavor here was spot-on and truly authentic. In fact, this was the first time I’ve ever had this dish in the U.S., and it brought back great memories. The staff were very polite and patient, even though there were quite a few tables occupied. The ordering system was easy to use on your cellphone, which made the whole experience convenient and smooth. If you’re nearby in Malden, I highly recommend giving Yixiang Hunan Gourmet a try.
