Oral prophylaxis or scaling or professional cleaning of your tooth with the help of an ultrasonic scaler. We remove calculus and debris which are present on the surface of the tooth. This calculus and debris interferes with the tooth and the gum grip and once we remove, we can tighten up the gum grip. Coming to the advantages we can maintain a healthy oral hygienic conditions by getting the scaling done and also we can prevent formation of cavities and if scaling is not done in a proper way. First is the calculus gets deposited on the tooth surface. It provides the space for the microorganisms to multiply, and cause the formation of cavities and hence it leads to other conditions of the periodontium, surrounding the tooth, gum, and won’t get destructed because of the calculus, the bacteria travels from the blood vessels in the mouth to the heat and causes a condition called as subacute bacterial endocarditis so it is better to get scaling done bi annually or every 6 months.
