Episode 7 is all about stretching etiquette!
Many of us have heard that we should stretch before working out, but did you know that it’s the other way around? Jordan asserts that exercises should be preceded by a dynamic warm up that involves movement—not a static stretch. It’s after we finish our work out that we should stretch. Dynamic before; stretching after.
It also turns out that most of us aren’t holding our stretches for long enough. While 30 seconds is the minimum amount of time we should be holding a stretch for, the ideal amount is 90 seconds. This gives us ample time to focus on our breathing, calm our heart rate, and release the tension.
