My consultation with the doctor herself was good and I left with a confident diagnosis. But the experience before my appointment was bizarre. After arriving for my appointment, the receptionist asked me to come into another room to “take my vitals”. She took my blood pressure and temperature, weighed me and asked my height. I was confused and uncomfortable that those details were being taken and recorded by someone who, to my knowledge, was not a medical professional. Usually the doctor would record this. After I sat back down in the waiting room, the receptionist asked me from the desk if I had allergies. I was confused why she was asking me but I told her my one allergy. She asked questions about the reaction I’d had to it. It was only when she asked my family medical history that I stood to talk at the desk, and said I’d prefer not to give those details verbally in the waiting room to receptionists. She seemed confused by this, and asked if I’d write it down but I declined, saying I’d share with the doctor. I found that all quite invasive. I’ve never been asked those details by a receptionist, at least not verbally (I would have been happy to fill out an official form). Those are private medical details and it is unprofessional to ask patients to share them in a public manner.

I am writing this review to express my significant dissatisfaction with my recent experience with Dr. Kiran at West Perth GP. Unfortunately, my encounter mirrored some of the negative feedback I've seen in other reviews. I found Dr. Kiran to be consistently rude and dismissive throughout my consultation. I felt that my concerns were not taken seriously and that I was being rushed. When I attempted to explain my symptoms and the research I had done to understand them, Dr. Kiran told me directly that I was self-diagnosing. This felt incredibly invalidating and shut down any meaningful discussion about my health. Beyond this specific instance, I felt a distinct lack of care from Dr. Kiran. There was no sense of empathy or genuine interest in understanding my health issues. The consultation felt perfunctory, and I left feeling unheard and without adequate guidance or support. On a completely positive note, I must commend the reception staff at West Perth GP. They were consistently amazing, helpful, and empathetic after my disappointing appointment. They were very understanding when I expressed my frustration after seeing Dr. Kiran, and I genuinely felt sorry that they had to witness and listen to my distress. Their professionalism was a stark contrast to the interaction I had with the doctor. It is disheartening to have a medical professional treat patients in this manner, especially when trying to be proactive about their health. Based on my experience with Dr. Kiran, and seemingly echoing the sentiments of other reviewers, I cannot recommend her. However, the excellent reception staff are a credit to the practice. I would advise others seeking a caring and attentive GP in West Perth to consider alternative options, despite the wonderful front-of-house team.
