Moxabustion is commonly combined with acupuncture treatments to treat a variety of conditions. Mugwort leaves are dried and ground into small sticks or cones called moxa (similar to an incense stick), which are then lighted and used to warm acupuncture points on your body.
Common conditions that may benefit from Moxa treatment are:
* Joint pain.
* Indigestion.
* Organ prolapse.
* Gastrointestinal issues.
* Menstrual cramps.
* Infertility.
It’s also commonly used for a breech pregnancy, when a baby is positioned feet- or bottom-first in the uterus rather than head-first. Moxa has been shown to be an effective way to get a baby to turn around on its own pending there is nothing structural keeping the baby from turning, without medical intervention.
It should be done during the end of the second trimester or beginning of the third trimester when the baby still has the room to turn around.
