Caregiver burnout is real!
Be on the lookout for signs of stress, such as irritability, trouble sleeping, an increase or a decrease in appetite.
If you’re noticing symptoms of stress increase, take it as a sign to slow down and practice self-care.
Here are a few things you can do to help you avoid caregiver burnout:
😴 Plan to go to bed early. Getting a good night’s sleep is important in feeling well-rested and energized.
💧 Stay hydrated. Are you drinking enough water? (Coffee and tea don’t count here). Drinking enough water is critical for brain function, nutrient absorption and digestion. Drinking the right amount of water can also increase your energy.
🛑 Know your limits and give yourself credit! A caregiver's role is both emotionally and physically demanding. Identify what a realistic workload looks like to you and ask for help when necessary.
