VIS Design

VIS Design rebuilt our deck as the previous one needed to be replaced due to rot issues that made it unstable as well as replacing the stairs and landing outside our laundry room. Since it is a large deck on a slope, we knew it was not something we could do ourselves. After listening to our hopes and ideas, they developed a couple concepts for us to consider before we settled on a plan. After we agreed on the concept Victor and John came and gave us their appraisal and bid in a very timely manner. Although they had other projects before us, they began gathering materials and making the new foundations for the new deck in early November. Although cost does enter the picture, they were fair in their understanding of our goals and needs and stayed on our agreed-upon budget. Their requests for a deposit and funds along the way were reasonable. When we needed an additional week for the funds to come into our accounts as additional materials were ordered and delivered, they understood and continued the work. It was easy to communicate with them through person to person, phone calls, e-mails and/or texts. We decided to go with the Rocky Harbor Trex design and watched each day as the project progressed until it was done. Even with the November winds and rain, they showed up and worked throughout each day. Their work ethic and skills are second to none! When it was done, the new deck exceeded our expectations not only for the design, but also the stability, their professionalism, keeping us informed throughout the process, and their understanding of the many questions we had along the way. The photos below show the end product that we are looking forward to using more in the coming days. A definite 5 Star Review and recommendation!

Vic and his team are the best. Best company we’ve hired for any work and our patio cover is amazing. They’re on time, easy to work with / schedule with, clear on cost and what is going to be done, and focused on the finished product. Victor is a true craftsman. I hesitate to call him a "deck guy", because that brings to mind bland contractors who are installing pre-fab boards. Looking through his portfolio from his clients, it's easy to see that he takes an immense amount of pride in the kind of work he does. He definitely demonstrated his expertise in design and engineering when working with us on our deck spaces. We had a few outfits come to quote for us, but it was clear that they were working with standard materials and were not offering any opinion on design. Immediately upon meeting Victor, my husband and I were struck by his professionalism. He came early (!) to visit with us and knew what we had in mind right away. His specialty is ipe wood. His quote was competitive with companies that were offering pre-fab deck material, but we decided we wanted the warmer, beautiful look of the wood. Victor took extremely detailed measurements, spoke to us about deck design layout options, and provided a quote immediately, on the spot. The true magic is when he started his work. Victor and his partner Ian(sp?) are meticulous - every line, screw, and board were perfect. My husband is a meticulous mechanical engineer and he really admired Victor's handiwork. Victor also consulted with us about how to better secure our deck (we live on a hillside) and we went with his recommendations. In addition, he completed work on a smaller deck which abutted a hillside, expertly reinforcing the once janky retaining supports. The results were perfect! We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Victor for anyone looking to upgrade their decks.

Victor is truly amazing! When he came to provide the initial quote, he was innovative and knowledgable in his design solutions to adjust the layout of our old deck. This team of two are amazingly efficient. Once work began, they quickly removed the old structure and hand the new supports in place within days. The work site was always tidy, and they juggled working around our two young kids with watchful eyes and good humor. Victor's attention to detail is superb, routering all the cut edges, adjusting the deck around a built in planter I decided to add mid project, and buiding a custom gate for the back deck railing. We opted for an ipe wood, and it has silvered beautifully over this past season.. just the look we were going for!

Victor is a true craftsman and a pleasure to work with. Every phase of our project – a large pergola – was handled with the highest standards of professionalism and care. We hired VIS Design to build a new deck. The owner Victor was very responsive, gave us great advice, and he and his employee Ion did a fantastic job. The deck looks amazing, very sturdy and stylish. The pricing is reasonable, of course you have to remember that cost of lumber increased a lot lately but I feel like Victor gave us a good deal.
