When I started looking at Memory Care Facilities, for my Mother, I had a number of questions. How stable was their work force? Was this just a job to them? Would my mother fit in? Were the Administrators accessible and easy to communicate with? How often was there a price increase? What hours of the day was I allowed to visit? What was it really like as opposed to what my eyes could see?
In my search, I considered 5 different facilities. I was most impressed with Village at Valley View. I liked that the residents had several areas outside of their room that the television was not an intrusion. That I could visit anytime. The facility was clean and bright and the colors in and on the building had an upbeat feel to it. And admittedly, not a determining factor, I liked the music they were piping through the building ...... mostly 1940’s music which the residents could recognize.
But most importantly, the caregivers were paid above average for their skills. I did not want a turnstile workforce. They have always responded to me and my concerns almost immediately. And they have been proactive with me and my Mother with suggestions that would make her life more comfortable.
Is everything perfect? It is for me and Mom.
