Cycling along the riverside this morning, it is inspiring to reflect on the history of this land. The Mekong Delta was once an important meeting point on the ancient Spice Route and Maritime Silk Road from the 1st to the 7th century. Spices from India and island Southeast Asia were gathered here before sailing north with the monsoon winds toward China.
