BMI only tells a part of the story! You may have heard the term Body Mass Index (BMI) being used regarding health risk concerns. BMI is simply how heavy you are relative to your height and across large populations is an indicator of long term health risk. Ideal BMI range is 18.5 to 24 but there are factors that can influence BMI without necessarily changing health risk. One of the major ones is muscle mass. People who are in an ideal level of leanness (10-20% for males, 20-30% for females) can be high on the BMI rating due to having an above average amount of muscle mass. So while it should be our goal generally to get into the safe range of BMI, it may not be ideal for every individual. Our advanced scans give you all the information you may need (including BMI) and we can share a full picture of what your body composition looks like presently and track it over time.
