I attended the practice on an emergency out-of-hours basis after my dog suffered a deep cut to his paw from a glass shard during a walk.
We were seen by two nurses. One of them was very kind, professional, and reassuring, which I greatly appreciated, Unfortunately, the other nurse came across as disengaged and gave the impression that they did not want to be there or assist, which affected the overall experience.
From my understanding, a wound of this nature should be properly cleaned before being dressed. While the paw was checked for any remaining glass, I was asked to confirm myself whether I believed anything was still inside. The wound was then bandaged without being cleaned beforehand.
I appreciate that out-of-hours services come at a premium, and I fully expected higher costs. However, £365 for approximately 20 minutes, combined with the level of care and atmosphere experienced, felt disappointing and not reflective of the standard I would expect.
I hope this feedback is taken constructively, as there was clearly a difference in attitude between staff members, and improvements in patient care and communication would make a significant difference.
