Important Information
Our emergency vets have seen cases these past few weeks concerning pets who have managed to get their paws on a mince pie or two! We're urging owners to be extra vigilant when having one of these treats in the house and to ensure they're kept up high and out of reach from curious noses. This includes leaving out a mince pie and carrot for Santa and his reindeer.
Mince pies contain sultanas, raisins and currants, which can be highly toxic to our pets.
Please be aware that this applies to both dogs and cats.
If your pet ingests a mince pie or even a mouthful, contact your vet as soon as possible. Alternatively, you can visit your local out-of-hours Vets Now clinic.
Check out our Christmas dedicated page where our emergency vets cover a lot of hazards including batteries, brandy, toys and tinsel.
