COMMERCIAL RAT INFESTATION – LEEDS CITY CENTRE
This morning we conducted a full site survey and implemented a structured riddance programme at a commercial premises within Leeds City Centre following reports of noises being heard within the roof void.
As shown within the short clip attached, clear signs of rat activity were identified including:
• Rat droppings
• Paw prints
• Smear marks/tracking marks
• Established rat runs within the roof void
• A live nesting area located beneath remaining loft insulation
During our inspection, we also identified damaged downpipes which we strongly believe the rats are using to travel directly from the drainage system into the roof space.
This is why locating ingress points and harbourage areas is critical when dealing with rodent infestations — not simply treating the symptoms.
A structured trapping and monitoring programme has now been implemented to bring the infestation under control, along with recommendations for proofing works once activity reduces.
