Yesterday evening we attended a large apartment block in Wakefield town centre following reports of flying insects⦠what we found was on another level.
On arrival, the fourth floor corridor was swarming with carpet moths, with hundreds flying around the communal areas.
A full inspection quickly revealed the real issue π
βΉοΈSevere carpet damage caused by larvae feeding
βΉοΈLarge amounts of larvae, eggs & pupae cocoons embedded deep within the carpet
βΉοΈHeavy activity along edges, skirting boards & doorways
βΉοΈBuilt-up dust and debris, creating the perfect breeding ground
This wasnβt a new problemβ¦
We estimate this infestation has been ongoing for 12+ months.
At this stage, this is a fully established infestation and will only continue to spread without urgent professional treatment.
Full report & recommendations have now been submitted & weβll await a response from block management to proceed
β οΈ Important: Removing carpets without treatment can make the problem worse and spread the infestation further especially laying a new carpet straight after.
If youβre seeing moths flying indoors or damage to carpets, donβt ignore it this is exactly how it starts.
