Today we conducted a survey for one of our letting agency clients within the Roundhay area of Leeds and this is what we discovered during our inspectionโฆ
โBig Cheeseโ rodenticide poison blocks placed directly onto rat snap traps. Absolutely unbelievable.
This is exactly why professional pest control matters.
Not only is this poor practice, but incorrectly placed rodenticides can pose unnecessary risks to non-target animals, pets and wildlife. Placing poison directly onto traps also shows a complete lack of understanding when it comes to proper rodent control and integrated pest management.
When dealing with rat infestations, the focus should always be on:
โข Identifying the ingress points
โข Locating harbourage and nesting areas
โข Removing food sources
โข Implementing correct trapping method
โข Carrying out proofing works
โข Using rodenticides safely & legally where genuinely required
Unfortunately, we attend far too many properties where DIY attempts or poor workmanship from others have only prolonged the infestation.
Poison alone rarely solves the root cause.
