When our client first contacted our company this morning, they had been hearing noises within the loft space for a couple of months and had already found clear signs of rat activity.
Like many people, they initially tried to deal with the issue themselves, before bringing in another pest control company who unfortunately relied solely on Rodenticides/Poisons, without carrying out any proper investigation into how the rats were actually gaining entry.
This is why problems never get resolved.
On arrival, we carried out a full in-depth site survey, focusing on finding the root cause not just treating the symptoms.
What we found:
βΉοΈAn active rat run leading directly from the drainage system
βΉοΈAccess via a manhole chamber, where rats were travelling from the drain
βΉοΈA tunnel running from the chamber and underneath the property foundations
βΉοΈA defect within the concrete benching, with a clear hole allowing rat movement
βΉοΈA redundant pipe entry point that had never been properly sealed
In the video, youβll clearly see:
πΉThe circular tunnel where a drainage pipe should have been sealed around
πΉThe large hole in the benching, acting as a direct access point from the drainage system
This is exactly why poisoning alone FAILS if you donβt eliminate the entry points, the problem will keep coming back time and time again.
