One open pipe caused a full-scale infestation underneath a home
This morning we attended a property in the Roundhay area after reports of a rat being seen near the top of the cellar stairs.
During our detailed inspection, we discovered an old, redundant toilet waste pipe that had been left open — a common oversight by builders. Unfortunately, this provided the perfect access point for rats to enter the property.
Hundreds of rat paw prints were found scattered throughout the cellar, confirming heavy activity.
We’ve now professionally capped off the redundant pipe and implemented a three-part riddance programme to eliminate the infestation and prevent future ingress.
