We attended a property in Wakefield Town Centre after reports of rats digging around a manhole⦠but this one was a bit different.
After a full inspection, we established the rats werenβt coming out of the drainβ¦ they were actually trying to get back INTO it π
Once we dug back and lifted the manhole cover, we found the drain line ended in a stop end meaning the rats are likely being forced out elsewhere due to a fault, and are desperately trying to re-enter the system.
Inside the chamber we also found large rat droppings, confirming active movement within the drainage.
This tells us one thing:
Thereβs another defect within the drainage system nearby allowing rats to move around unseen.
This is exactly why so many infestations keep coming backβ¦
If you donβt fix the source (drainage), youβll never fix the problem.
Weβve now recommended:
β’ Full in-depth drain camera survey
β’ Repairs to any defects found
β’ Reinstating and sealing around the manhole
β’ Ongoing monitoring
