EMERGENCY EUROPEAN TREE BEE RELOCATION – LEEDS
An emergency call-out this afternoon to the Osmondthorpe area of Leeds following reports of an active European tree bee nest being disturbed during demolition works.
Upon arrival, we found that part of a disused wooden office/container had already been dismantled, causing a section of the nest to fall onto the ground and understandably making the bees quite agitated.
European tree bees are an important pollinator species and are commonly found nesting in cavities such as bird boxes, roof spaces and wooden structures.
Our technician carefully stripped back the remaining section, recovered the nest, and allowed as many returning worker bees as possible to crawl back into it before safely relocating the colony to a more suitable location.
Another successful European tree bee relocation carried out with the welfare of the colony as the main priority.
