What you pay for is not always what you get. This was the case with Escape chores.
Buyer beware!
Update:
As you can see, the owner has responded with misleading information here as well as Thumbtack.
A few points about the owner's response:
- The rate charged for regular cleanings ($190) was determined by the owner after reviewing the property, not by me. This is in addition to a more significant 4 hour "initial clean" by her and her team ($395). By my math, the $ paid and # employees/job/hr seemed to equal about $20 - $30/hr. As detailed below, I was open to paying more if additional work was needed, but none of this was never discussed.
- Payment due dates were never discussed, and invoices were sent before service was rendered with payment requested in advance. I made payment in full via upon confirmation of services rendered. In the "4 days" case, I was on travel at the time of rendered service and it took that long to get to property and confirm service rendered. Payment was made despite additional work being needed. It wasn't withheld due to incomplete work.
- The suggestion of $450 came from the owner's previous move out clean rate they'd set/performed on another unit. Upon arrival, the owner asked for more money for the job, which I immediately agreed to and paid ($85).
- Hazmat suits weren't noted on Ring doorbell footage, nor was it mentioned by the owner prior to these posts.
- There was no notice of "service cancellation", just a promise of biweekly cleanings and no team arrival on the agreed upon date, with no response from owner upon questioning.
As Raven mentioned, no one's perfect. I understand that, and seeing eye-to-eye is sometimes hard, which is why I made best efforts to communicate expectations and issues in real-time to avoid misunderstandings and heart aches like this. Unfortunately, Raven has chosen to use words like "harassing", "challenging", "disrespectful", " draining ", " unfair", " "unkind", "someone who takes advantage" , and "evil" in response to someone listing legitimate issues they had with services rendered by her company.
She's also chosen to publicly threaten legal action for leaving unflattering opinions about my experience.
That's definitely one way to run a business... but may confirm for others the need to pause and consider other options before giving their business to someone who responds to feedback like this .
Original review:
I utilized them on three different jobs. I had to request they come back to each job to complete cleanings. Despite this, I was still open to work with them as their team members are nice and seemed willing to help. I even made efforts to come up with a checklist for future jobs so there wouldn't be misunderstandings. The owner (Raven Bernard) agreed, but then the team failed to show for a schedule job. The owner left me on read and ghosted me. The owner then responded with misleading information when I left 3 star (neutral) review on thumbtack.
