The severity can vary greatly from occasionally leaking urine when sneezing hard, to having such a strong and sudden urge to urinate that makes it impossible to get to the toilet in time. There are four main types of incontinence: urge, stress, overflow and functional.
Regardless of type or severity, urinary incontinence is a medical condition with many treatment options — absorbent pads are not the only solution. It is not a natural part of ageing nor an inevitable consequence of childbirth.
