An inguinal hernia is the bulging of internal tissue, such as fats or intestines, through the abdominal wall in the groin area. It may be present at birth or due to normal, age-related muscle degeneration.
In this situation, one may feel discomfort, pain, heaviness, or burning in the groin. It may get worse when straining, lifting, coughing, or standing for a long time.
While an inguinal hernia is not dangerous initially, its contents may become trapped as it grows larger and causes hernia strangulation, which is a life-threatening emergency.
If you or a loved one has a hernia, it may be prudent to consult an experienced urologist about your condition to prevent it from getting worse!
