For Troop The Brave
I walked into Urgent Care Vet with a broken heart and a tiny injured stray kitten I had found on the side of the road. I named him Troop—short for Trooper—because even in his fragile state, I could tell he had a fighting spirit.
The staff didn’t just see a stray that day. They saw a life that mattered. They treated Troop with gentleness, urgency, and deep compassion—and they treated me the same. When it became clear that he wouldn’t survive, they made sure his passing was peaceful, pain-free, and filled with dignity.
What moved me most is that, seeing how heartbroken I was, they chose to waive the cost of care. Not because I asked, but because they genuinely cared. That kind of grace and empathy is rare. They made it possible for Troop’s final moments to be filled with love, not fear.
Thank you, from the deepest part of my heart, for giving him that.
And thank you for helping me carry the weight of goodbye.
He may have only been with me for a short time, but because of you, he left this world surrounded by care.
I’ll never forget what you did for us.
With love and gratitude,
Savannah (and Troop the Brave)
