Unrestricted Nutrition Counseling and Consulting, and Stefanie Ginsburg, played an essential role in my son's recovery from his eating disorder, known as ARFID. The effects of this eating disorder, like all eating disorders, are devastating. For my son, ARFID showed as a fear that food would make him sick, and so he couldn't eat, which placed his health at great risk, and also led to other mental health issues, like depression and anxiety. It's been a five-year journey, but my son, now 17, is in a much healthier place in his life. A lot of that has to do with the care we received over the last year from Stefanie once we added her to his care team. Her work as a nutritionist was a critical part of that team, which also included a psychiatrist to manage meds and a therapist. What she did was meet virtually with my son each week and provide him the tools to improve his food intake in a way he could manage without it being overwhelming to him. She was also very responsive to me and my wife when we had questions or concerns about his recovery. Today, my son has crossed so many of his food barriers and is in a much better place both with his physical and emotional health. That said, we know we have to be vigilant, and he may need additional nutrition support in the future. We would again seek out Unrestricted Nutrition for that care if the time comes that her services are again needed. I would highly recommend her services for anyone with a child struggling with an eating disorder or nutrition issues of any kind.
