As with all air conditioning systems, annual services are recommended, including cleaning of the air ducts (because air is distributed by a network of air ducts, and they form a major component of the centralized system).
Over time parts may become worn and a central AC repair may become necessary. They can normally be picked up on an annual service, but parts may break at any time of the year. If it becomes faulty, your running costs may increase and you may not be getting sufficient cool air.
