Water damage can spread fast, especially from something as simple as an overflowing sink.
In Baton Rouge, United Fire & Water responded to a residential call where a laundry room sink overflowed, impacting multiple areas of the home. Water traveled from the laundry room into two hallways and the master closet, leaving behind wet floors and saturated sheetrock.
Our team immediately began with a full inspection, taking moisture readings, photos, and detailed documentation, including a Docusketch to map out the affected areas. Water extraction was performed to remove standing moisture, and in the master closet, all carpet and padding were removed due to heavy saturation. These materials were bagged and placed in the garage to assist with the homeowner’s insurance process.
We then set up professional drying equipment throughout the home to begin the drying process and prevent further damage. Follow-up visits are a key part of what we do, so we scheduled a return to monitor moisture levels and adjust equipment as needed.
Situations like this show how quickly water can impact multiple areas—but with the right team, the damage can be handled quickly and efficiently.
