WATER INGRESS - SOLAR HOT WATER SYSTEM at SUNNYBANK 4109
Our inspectors were conducting a pre-sale building inspection on a property at Sunnybank. Part of the inspection process is to check the roof cavity. This is an important area of a home as issues with the roof can potentially be costly to repair.
In this instance, our inspectors found a solar hot water system pipe that was not properly installed. This is a water ingress issue which simply means water is coming into the roof cavity.
You can see water marks on one of the beams - clear cut evidence of a water leak. This leak can be easily fixed but left unabated could lead to the beam rotting and losing its strength and integrity.
Whilst this was a Building and Pest Inspection for someone preparing to sell their home, it is worthwhile to get a thorough inspection as part of your home maintenance. As most people don’t venture into the manhole to check their roof cavity there could be issues present of which you could be completely unaware.
