Our client was in the process of buying a property at Calamvale and asked us to conduct a building and pest inspection.
Our Building Inspector noticed some damage to the skirting board that was indicative of moisture. This wall adjoined the bathroom so there was a distinct possibility there was a shower leak.
We have a piece of equipment, Tramex Moisture Encounter. This device is a moisture meter that can measure moisture at both deep and shallow depths, up to 30mm and 10mm respectively. It gives a colour coded reading as to whether it has detected moisture and the level of that moisture.
This gives an instant moisture measurement and evaluation without having to open walls.
In this instance, the measurement and evaluation had red-lined it meaning the wall was wet. This is a direct result of a shower leak.
