BUILDING AND PEST INSPECTION MORNINGSIDE 4170

As you know, we send two inspectors to every building and pest inspection. One is focussed on the building aspect and the pest technician is looking for pest issues such as termites.

They go their separate ways to inspect every inch of the house and property. In this case, they were both discovering extensive termite damage and subsequent structural damage.

Cracked tiles in the bathroom allowed water to seep to the joists and headers beneath the bathroom. Termites love moist timber especially when it’s being continuously soaked.

It’s clearly evident how water soaked the timber supports are.

Once the termites enjoyed eating the subfloor, they began digesting other parts of the house. The sliding door frame was next to the bathroom so that was an obvious choice for the new food supply.

The frames around the sliding doors actually needed further investigation to see the full extent of the damage. This is what is called an Invasive Inspection.

Holes are drilled into walls and using a Borescope camera, the operator can see what is behind the plasterboard. This is a special inspection and has to be specifically booked.

The termites had been left unchecked for so long they made their way to the handrails!

How did the property get to this state? Poor maintenance and no termite inspections.

Building and pest inspections are not just for the domain of real estate purchases. They should be part of your home maintenance program.
