Here’s the real talk: cheap “live edge” slabs often use soft, poorly dried wood, fillers, and quick finishes: think warping, splitting, and edges that chip just a year or two in. We’ve even seen pieces “stitched” together with glue and hope.
At Twin Oak Sawmill, we do it differently. Every slab is milled from locally sourced walnut, oak, or elm: kiln dried, carefully flattened and finished by hand so it won’t warp or fall apart. We keep the tree’s natural lines, but anchor it with true craftsmanship and sturdy joinery. No shortcuts, and no mystery wood shipped in from who-knows-where. Just honest, Kansas-grown hardwood and a build you can leave to the grandkids.
