Starting next year, if you have a child under the age of 2 years old, they must ride in a rear-facing car seat in the state of Illinois.
Children taller than 40 inches or weighing more than 40 pounds are exempt.
Illinois State Police troopers say violators could face a $75 fine on the first offense, and a fine of up to $200 on a second offense.
