Case Study: Restoration and Preservation of a 100-Year-Old Historic Church Door in Toronto
This project involved the restoration of an original church door in Toronto that is over 100 years old. The door was in very poor condition and close to falling apart. From a cost perspective, replacing it with a new door would have been easier and less expensive.
However, the church team was in the middle of a renovation and made it clear that preserving the original historic door was a priority. The door held strong historical and emotional value, and replacement was not an option.
We carefully removed the door and transferred it to our workshop, where one of our technicians, who specializes in delicate restoration work, dedicated days and nights to the project. The work required precision, patience, and respect for the original materials to ensure the door was stabilized and restored without losing its historic character.
Every step focused on preservation rather than replacement. The result is a restored door that maintains its original appearance while being structurally sound and ready for reinstallation.
The attached photos show the transformation before installation and highlight the craftsmanship involved in preserving this historic piece.
