A tooth isn’t just a hard white shape — it’s a carefully built structure with layers that work together every day. Just like the Top Agents at Tooth Clues HQ have different roles and responsibilities, a tooth has different layers each with an important job too. Meet our Mischievous Molar as we explore the three main layers!

🦷 Enamel - The enamel is the white, outer covering of the tooth and the hardest substance in the human body. Its job is to protect the tooth from daily wear, chewing forces and temperature changes. Even though enamel is strong, it can still crack or wear down — and once it’s damaged, it does not grow back.

🦷 Dentin - Dentin sits just underneath the enamel and makes up most of the tooth’s structure. It’s not as hard as enamel and contains tiny channels that lead toward the center of the tooth. When dentin is exposed, teeth may become sensitive to hot, cold, or sweet foods. Dentin acts as a cushion and extra layer of protection for the inner core of the tooth.

🦷 Pulp - The pulp is the soft inner core of the tooth. It contains nerves, blood vessels, and connective tissue that keep the tooth alive. The pulp provides nutrients and moisture to the tooth and is responsible for feeling pain, pressure, and temperature.

🕵️‍♀️ The investigation continues…

Over the next few weeks, we’ll uncover more clues about tooth anatomy and how each layer plays a role in keeping little smiles healthy and strong. Stay tuned! 🦷✨
