Tomato Pie Pizza Joint (South Pasadena)

Brian had awesome customer service skills, very friendly and helpful. We tried 4 different slices pizzas and all are very tasty 🍕🥰 the house salad is all 💚 greens no iceberg lettuce here👏🎖🥗🍕🏆🥰 We'll be back to try another 4 different pizza slices. If you haven't eaten here come try a slice 😋 you won't be disappointed 😉

Just got back from eating here and all I can say are positive things. The location is beautiful and easy to find parking. The people that work there are incredible nice and attentive. And the pizza was delicious!! Bonus for having my favorite beer on tap (Great White). I can’t wait to go back!

Pizza is amazing here ! I go to the silver lake location all the time and I was soo happy to find one hear in Pasadena near where I work! Onllyyy thing is that at silver lake when they reheat the slice it has a perfect crunchy bottom and here it’s a hit or miss, but everything else is exactly the same in every way 4.5/5 stars overall !! Tomato Pie pizza has hands down, the best pizza I've had since moving to CA. As a NYC native, I know my pizza and this place reminds me of the delicious slices I used to get growing up. The staff are courteous and friendly and the owner is super nice. The simple cheese pie is absolute heaven. I just devoured 3 slices (even though I'm supposed to be on a diet) because it's sooooo tasty. My whole family absolutely loves this place! Bonus that they have wine and beer too.

Their pizzas are absolutely fantastic. A great balance between crunchy and soft. Not a lot of seating inside, I assume that’s why they don’t have fountain drinks in order to have a faster customer turn around. They offer by the slice as well. Very small parking lot in the back and a couple small tables outside. Limited canned and bottled drinks available. Their bathrooms are clean.

Visiting family in South Pasadena from Canada, got here for a bite before a shopping trip .. Ordered a Caesar Salad, draft beer and a NY style Primo pizza which was cooked perfectly and had great flavour. Staff was very friendly and welcoming. Definitely coming back to try the other pizzas .

Tomato Pie Pizza Joint is a pizza joint that makes the perfect NY-Style pizza in So.Pasadena. I arrived as a first time customer in this location. I was warmly greeted by a middle aged staff, at the counter. I perused their menu (pizza, pastas, subs, appetizers, salads) and decided to get a slice of Miss Green and Unsweetened Green Tea. Pizza was flavorful and its crust was great. It’s exactly the kind of NY style pizza taste that I’m accustomed growing up in NYC. Service was great. Staff were friendly. Atmosphere was relaxing. Their sleek interior 60’s design that stands out compared to other pizza joint. Prices seem fair. Plenty of street and rear parking lot. Overall, I loved every bite of Ms Green. I highly recommend this joint.

This is, in my opinion, perfect New York style pizza. When I was younger I worked as a pizza maker in an authentic, delicious New York style place, and continued to eat there until it was closed. I have been looking to find that same authentic taste for years, and honestly this place probably surpasses it. The dough, the sauce, the cheese / dough / sauce ratios, everything is perfect. The crisp bottom preventing the slices from being too floppy with enough to have a slight crunch on the bite but so thin it’s not a fight to eat it. While I am not an aficionado with Detroit style pizza, this is also the best version of it I have tried. Again, the bottom is crisp and gives a bit of a crunch, but the crispness is not very thick at all and the softness of the thicker pizza dough stands out. Service was also great, interior decor was nice. If I could suggest anything it would be to have fountain sodas.

I have been here several times. The food is fine. I ordered several pizzas online for a sporting event. Later, went in to grab the pizzas and the cashier told me they didn’t have the pizzas for me. I showed him my online order receipt and the cashier said he’d need to reprocess the order - but I didn’t have time to wait so I asked for a refund. The manager (owner? Guy with glasses) came over and literally yelled at me in front of the other people in the line to show him proof. Which I did. Long story short the credit card company ended up helping me since the pizza place wouldn’t give me a refund or the pizzas…needless to say, I haven’t been back.

I’ve been coming to Tomato Pie for years and it never fails. The pizza is one of the best in LA. The service is outstanding. The staff is always friendly and willing to answer any questions or offer suggestions. The atmosphere is super chill and the dining area is always clean. 5 stars all the way for Tomato Pie in Dena!
