When are woodworm most active?
Woodworm’s favourite and most active time of year (like most people’s) is spring and summer; meaning they are active now.
As temperatures rise, adult beetles emerge from timbers to mate, and then lay eggs in nearby timber, starting the cycle all over again. This period is when you’re most likely to spot signs of a woodworm infestation, like exit holes or beetles near windows.
After the eggs are laid, the woodworm larvae are going to eat through the timbers during autumn and winter, ready to emerge as adult beetles.
