What causes dry rot?
The cause of dry rot in properties is a moisture level in excess of 20% in the property’s timber.
The source of the moisture could be anything, but some of the most common reasons include leaking pipes, blocked gutters, and poor ventilation in crawl spaces to name a few.
Before any remedial dry rot work commences, the source of the moisture needs to be fixed first.
This ensures that the excessive moisture does not enter or penetrate the timbers again, and that the timbers are dry and strong.
