What exactly is woodworm?
Woodworm refers to the larval stage of wood-boring beetles that live, feed, and grow inside timber. There are thousands of types of woodworm, each slightly different.
The most common culprit in UK homes?
The most common is the Common Furniture Beetle (Anobium punctatum). This woodworm is responsible for the majority of woodworm issues, accounting for approximately 75-80% of all damage.
While adult beetles are short-lived, once they mate and lay their eggs, their larvae can feed on your timber for years, weakening its structure from the inside out, often without visible signs until serious damage is done.
