Is your woodworm active or historic?
Not all tiny round holes you spot in your timber will be an active woodworm infestation. Without the other signs of frass, brittle timber and sightings of the beetles, the tiny round holes may indicate that you’ve had historic woodworm.
It is not always easy to spot these signs, as the timber may be out of sight or there could have been a lot of movement around the affected area, meaning the frass and beetles would have been disturbed.
It is always the safest option to have the timbers assessed by a qualified surveyor, who will be able to diagnose whether the infestation is active or historic.
