Surveying a Historic Timber Framed Public House in Leicestershire.
Recentley the Timberwise Leicester team were surveying a historic timber framed public house, carrying out specialist inspections to assess the condition of the external framing timbers.
The survey included micro-drilling of the exposed timbers to measure resistance and help determine the full extent of decay and any repairs that may be required. Unfortunately, access to the interior was not possible on this visit due to a key code issue, but the external inspection alone revealed clear signs of decay and movement within sections of the timber frame.
Historic buildings like this require a careful and experienced approach. Our surveyors are trained to work sensitively with traditional construction, providing clear advice and practical solutions that respect the age and character of the structure while addressing underlying defects.
Once access is available internally, a full picture of the condition can be completed to support informed repair and restoration decisions.
