The Standen Swim Academy

We’ve had such a wonderful experience with Standen Swim Academy 💙 My son (just turned 3) has been attending for a year and the improvement we’ve seen has been incredible. We started with the wonderful Sally for one term before moving to Vikki, who has been his teacher for two terms now. My son has built a lovely bond with Vikki, which has made a huge difference. She has been amazing - her patience in keeping the toddlers engaged and focused while making all our lessons fun. We love the themed lessons and always look forward to what each Monday brings. There’s such a warm, welcoming atmosphere, and it’s clear all the staff genuinely enjoy what they do. A special mention to Kelly on front of house, who is always so friendly and helpful. The facilities are fantastic too. We especially love the new building at Three Oaks. The trains, colouring, and books etc make a great little treat after lessons. We’ve just finished this term and are excited to be moving up to Ducklings 🐥 The medal and personalised report are such thoughtful touches and they really help show how much progress he’s making. Swimming is such an important life skill, and choosing Standen has truly been an invaluable investment for our family. Thank you for making this journey so special!

This is Ivy’s first term having swimming lessons after watching her brothers swimming lessons with the Standen swim academy for the last 3 years. They always go above and beyond and Ivy loves coming every week. Her confidence has already grown and she’s progressing quickly while also having fun! Highly recommend!!

We have an an excellent experience at Standen Swim Academy. My son, Casey, was very nervous to start swimming (to the point of refusing to get in the pool the first lesson!) but with Vikki's patience and humour his confidence has grown each week and he genuinely looks forward to his lessons each week! Vikki has been fantastic, she understands him so well and understands when to push him and when it's just not going to happen that week. She has even managed to get him wearing goggles without complaint which I wasn't sure was possible! Casey loves the themed weeks and they really helped in the initial weeks to build a bit of excitement for the lessons. They are woven into the lessons really well. The new building is great: it's clean, the pool is a nice temperature and the dry play area for siblings is such a great idea and has helped us to entertain his little sister when we have needed her to come along. Behind the scenes, they are easy to get hold of and happy to be flexible as far as they can. I cannot recommend them enough.

We couldn’t be happier with the progress our daughter has made since starting her lessons at Standen Swimming Academy. From being a little unsure in the water at first to now swimming with so much confidence, the difference has been incredible to see. A huge thank you to her amazing teacher Jess, who has been so patient, encouraging and supportive throughout. Jess has such a lovely way with the children and really helps them build confidence while still making the lessons fun. Our daughter absolutely loves coming each week and is so proud of how much she’s learned. It’s been wonderful watching her grow in confidence in the water, and we’re so grateful to the team at Standen for creating such a positive and supportive environment for the children to learn. Highly recommend The Standen Swim Academy. We have two children swimming here, and we couldn’t be happier with their progress and the care they receive. Our 5 year old daughter has just finished her first term, after years with Water Babies. She has thoroughly enjoyed her lessons with Sharon. Under Sharon's guidance, she has continued to develop her technique, grown immensely in confidence, and absolutely thrives on Sharon's praise. Our 2 year old son, who only joined our family just 7 months ago, had never even been in a swimming pool before. We couldn't have asked for a better first instructor than Vikki. She has been incredibly patient and understanding, even using Makaton to communicate with him. While he might still be as "wooden as a board" in the water 🫣, he has gone from being incredibly nervous to genuinely happy, smiling, and engaging with others whilst in the water. Thank you, Standen Swim Academy, and a huge shout-out to Sharon and Vikki!

We’ve had such a fantastic experience at Standen Swim Academy at Three Oaks! The new facilities are absolutely brilliant — clean, modern and perfect for building confidence in the water. A huge shoutout to Scarlett, who has been an amazing teacher. Her patience, encouragement and enthusiasm have made all the difference. The progress has been phenomenal — she can now swim 10m front crawl and backstroke, feels happy and more confident in deeper water and is really starting to build her stamina. Most importantly, she’s having so much fun every lesson! Couldn’t recommend Standen Swim Academy more highly! 💙🏊‍♀️

Freddie has been with Standen Swim Academy since he was just 4 weeks old and I cannot overstate how brilliant the sensory lessons with Sally are. He may have slept though his second ever lesson but 7 months on he is almost floating independently and is so happy in the water! We love our weekly sessions and feel we get such a personalised experience with Sally! Highly recommend!!

We love Durley House Swim school. My 2 sons have only been swimming there only a term but have made so much progress already. My youngest, who is 5, swims with Jayden in the smaller pool. Jayden is kind and caring and knows how to pitch the lessons for the younger children. My son really enjoys his lessons and only having 3 children in the group means he gets lots of attention. My elder son, who is 7, swims with Jess in the bigger pool. Jess is brilliant with him (he can be quite excitable) and has made him focus and learn quickly. Again, only 3 in a group so lots of attention and turns swimming with the teacher. We tried lessons at a leisure centre which, although cheaper, were not as good. They had up to 8 children in a group and therefore not much time could be spent with each child. Durley House lessons are more expensive than a leisure centre but with small groups and amazing swimming teachers, they are well, well worth the cost. The facilities are great, showers and changing areas are lovely and clean and all the staff are really kind and seem to genuinely care. Also, each week has a different theme, for example dinosaurs, food, vehicles etc which my boys love. They also get termly certificates and medals with the added option of being able to purchase badges. Cannot fault Durley House Swim School in any way.

We absolutely love the Standen swim academy! Our son has been taking weekly lessons for a term now and has also done some intensive holiday courses. He has thrived from these lessons not only with his ability to swim but also with confidence and coordination in the water. The staff are all very friendly and our son’s swim teacher did a brilliant job at not only teaching the kids to swim but also making it a fun experience. Thank you so much to everyone at the Standen swim academy! Learning to swim and water safety is an important life long skill and I’m very happy to say that I feel like my son is in very good hands with your swim school.

Our 1st term at Standen Swim Academy has been brilliant! Little one is now 8 months and Sally, our teacher, has given him the best, most caring, fun and supportive lessons. Confidence in the water achieved and looking forward to next term. Loving the facilities and location for us is top notch too 🌟
