Great looking place and very friendly staff. Lots of unique fairly priced cocktails, well made with locally sourced ingredients. Picklebacks are really good too!

The Natural Philosopher was a real treat. The menu drinks were fantastic and Josh can create any drink to match your palette. This spot was a great recommendation from the NYT and should not be missed.

Miss the old natural philosopher, they got rid of most of the pickle backs. Cocktail menu is a bit limited now, music is worse, art is worse. Waitress was very nice. Used to recommend this place to everyone, won’t be coming back.

An incredible little stop with some of the best cocktails in the city served by some of the best bartenders. Everything we tried was 10/10 and cannot recommend enough. If you haven’t been you are truly missing out!!!

I didn't expect this, in fact wasn't sure what to expect when walking closer to the location as you would never think it's there. Ideal as this was before going to a gig, and it set the evening off so well. The lady who served the drinks was lovely, super friendly and helpful (sorry should of got her name for a mention) As you walk in, it's super cosy and the bar drops down to your left, and the seating area is above it, quite different. You get seated, have a couple of snacks while you look at the menu and the service is quick. I would recommend happy hour between 6-8 pm as two for one offers, and they are very well made. The closest station is Cambridge Heath, like 2 min walk. Solid A***** LDT x

I walked into an interesting-looking bar and went straight to the counter to ask if I could just order half a pint and pay right away, as I didn’t have much time. The waitress (young energy guy) told me they only do table service and asked me to sit down — even though the place was tiny and he could’ve easily just charged me and handed me a can (there was no draft beer anyway). So I sat at a dirty table — the rest were booked. A waiter came over to another table and started chatting with them for ages, giving them friendly recommendations, then walked around, cleaned a different table (not mine), completely ignoring me. Then, as if nothing happened, he tossed some dirty dishes on the station and casually finished what looked like his own espresso martini. That was my cue to leave. 20:25 01.11.25

Such a cool spot for a date or catching up with friends. The cocktails were tasty and service was great. The drinks bar was one level down from the floor!! quirky art surrounds the cosy chairs and sofa’s - a lot to see.

We stopped by after dinner at Bistrotheque. Met the owner, a lovey cozy place that’s pub like in intimacy but far more soothing in volume, comfort, and a sense of ease. Cocktails were very inventive and really hit the mark. Ingredients are foraged in east London and I even had a tequila pickle back. Great spot!

The Natural Philosopher is a neighbourhood cocktail bar in Bethnal Green on Hackney Road apparently themed after a Mac repair shop (random but pretty cool!). The main bar area is down a small flight of stairs with the bar lowered into a well in the ground. Excellent cocktails and fantastic service. Can't wait to return!

Such a lovely little gem of a cocktail bar! It caught our eye as we walked past so we went in for happy hour and stayed for awhile. The owner Josh was so lovely and fun to speak to. And the cocktails and picklebacks were delicious! The atmosphere inside is so magical too. We'll be back soon for sure!
