Protect Your Locks This Winter!
Cold weather is here and frozen locks are about to become a real problem.
Here's our top tip to keep you from getting locked out this winter:
Use GT85 or Graphite Powder
Spray a small amount into your lock cylinder before the cold really hits.
This stops moisture getting in and freezing overnight. Graphite powder works great too - just a quick puff into the keyhole.
Never Force A Frozen Lock
If your key won't turn, don't force it.
You could snap your key inside the lock. Instead, gently heat your key with a lighter for a few seconds, then carefully insert it.
The warmth will melt the ice.
Check Your UPVC Door
UPVC doors can be affected by cold weather. The mechanisms can stiffen up or fail completely.
Test your door now - if it's stiff or hard to lock, get it checked before it fails in freezing temperatures.
