Don’t panic! It’s probably just dormant, not dead!
👉 When temperatures consistently dip below 60℉ or water is scarce, grass takes a break to conserve energy.
This is normal for many grass types, especially warm-season varieties like Bermuda or Zoysia.
👉How to check if it’s alive? Try the “tug test”!
Gently pull on a patch of brown grass.
- If it resists, it’s still holding on
- If the grass and roots pull right up. It may have moved on to the great green field in the sky. But don't give up yet! Even if it’s dormant, that grass is still there.
Just be patient and avoid overwatering or fertilizing during dormancy. Your grass doesn’t need that wake-up call just yet!
Wait until spring, and with the right care, that golden brown will again turn lush and green 💚
