To Dr. Patricio Espinosa, MD, MPH, FAAN, the brain is the most complex and intricate systems in the human body. “I love the challenge of understanding the brain, it's why I wanted to study neurology,” he says.
As a board-certified neurologist with more than 22 years of experience, Dr. Espinosa recently opened, in October 2021, the Espinosa Neuroscience Institute.
Originally from Quito, Ecuador, Dr. Espinosa earned his medical degree from the Universidad Central del Ecuador and completed an internal medicine and neurology residency at the University of Kentucky. His Master of Public Health degree is from Johns Hopkins, and he later completed a fellowship on epilepsy, neurophysiology, and sleep disorders from Harvard Medical School.
“This new journey allows me to care for the community in many ways,” Dr. Espinosa says. “I want our patients to have the feeling that they are more than their health problems — they’re like family to us.”
