The Birth Center of New Jersey- Natural Birth/ Water Birth

I truly cannot say enough amazing things about this place and the staff. This was my second pregnancy and Artemis and The Birth Center have made this experience night and day from my first which was horrid at a different facility. The attention, the friendly faces that I was met with at each appointment, the level of care, the genuine interest in my overall health and health of baby was nothing I experienced with my previous provider. My birth was beautiful. Kasey, the midwife was so knowledgeable and treated me and my family so nicely I will never forget it. Rosemary who runs the birth center and helped us throughout the pregnancy and after the birth was always available, always willing to go above and beyond and an overall joy to talk to and work with. I will recommend this place to all expecting moms. Dr. P who owns both the birth center and Artemis is running such a beautiful practice and should be proud. Thank you for making this such a smooth and nice experience for my family.

Everyone here has been such a pleasure. A fantastic experience from beginning to end of my pregnancy! Dr. Pemberton was amazing, rushing to greet us at the birthing center at the crack of dawn with baby #2. Midwife Brenda and Nurse Keisha helped me welcome our newest family member in such a peaceful, safe, and supportive environment. Rosemary is awesome!! I had the birth of my dreams and couldn't have asked for a better team.

Absolutely Incredible Experience – Highly Recommend! I truly can’t say enough amazing things about this birth center! From the moment we arrived, we felt supported, cared for, and completely at ease. The staff is absolutely incredible — so warm, friendly, and genuinely dedicated to making sure you feel empowered and comfortable every step of the way. The facility itself is spotless and beautifully maintained. You can really tell how much thought and care goes into every detail. What really stood out to me was the range of tools and techniques they offer to support natural labor — from birthing tubs to peanut balls and more. It made such a difference in my experience and helped me stay calm and focused throughout. This place is truly a gem. I recommend it to everyone looking for a more personalized, supportive, and natural birth experience. Thank you to the entire team — you made our birth experience something truly special!

I had my natural birth here it was an amazing, powerful, and wonderful experience for me as a first-time mom. If I do it again it would be here for sure. The mid-wives were experienced and very supportive. Shout out to Michelle P. Gabriel-Caldwell who is the owner of the birthing classes thr information was informative and verrrrrrry important to take ! 👏 The breathing techniques definitely got me through ! ❤️ 👶🏾

I rarely leave reviews but I'm a person who believes good news or good experiences are rarely shared which allows not so good experiences to overshadow a person or place. Therefore, I want to highlight not just a place but persons that make me enjoy coming here as a community mother and doula. If you never had the pleasure of meeting Dr. P I'll tell you she's full of knowledge and love. She is very straightforward and will do her best to give you the best birth and experience you desire. However, birth is birth which means unexpected events can occur shifting plans. In that, Dr. P still continues to advocate and show up for her patients. I've had the pleasure of being by her side as a Medicaid Doula working together to serve families. My services are both independent via own practice and under contract as a contracted doula with Baby, Please which Michelle operates as their Doula Coordinator. In either capacity I was always welcomed and respected. Michelle took a chance on me without fully knowing my capabilities as a doula more so postpartum including newborn care and I thank for it. Heck I think the families thank her for it too. Not only do you see them showing up for all they're also very vocal and proactive regarding black/brown infant and maternal health which is needed seeing the mortality and morbidity rates we face. I gave birth to my second baby here several weeks ago. The experience exceeded my expectations. In contrast to my first hospital delivery, the birth center provided exactly what I was looking for: a welcoming, serene place to deliver my baby with no unnecessary interventions. I didn't labor very long at the birth center since I arrived already in transition (8cm). I had to wait in one of the Artemis office rooms until the on-call midwife arrived, so by the time I walked across the hall into one of the birth center rooms, it was time to push! I entered one of the birthing suites (the whole facility is pristine) and was greeted by the staff, nurse, and midwife. I had just enough time to get into the tub, start pushing, and successfully deliver my baby in the water a few minutes later. The midwife on call who delivered my baby, Leslie, carried herself with so much peace, especially postpartum as I had some complications. It was nothing out of her expertise and she took very good care of me before I was discharged home. I always felt that I was in good hands. My only critique is that I was under the impression during my pre-natal care that I would deliver my baby with one of the many Artemis midwives that I had met during my various pre-natal checkups. They all seemed lovely and I was ready to give birth with any one of them assisting. However, this was not the case and I had to wait for the on-call midwife to get to the birth center before I could be admitted. I didn't care in the moment because I was too busy laboring. I didn't mind once I met her either, because Leslie was wonderfully calm, encouraging, and knowledgeable--I instinctively trusted her and could tell she had plenty of experience in the way she carried herself. However, in hindsight I would have preferred to have met the person who helped bring my baby into this world beforehand! Anyways, I am very happy with my experience. It was so empowering to give birth surrounded by people who believed in my natural ability to give birth, not to mention professionals who didn't interfere with my bonding time with my baby and husband immediately after birth by coming to poke and prod every half hour like they did at the hospital! If you are considering an unmedicated birth, I would highly recommend the birth center. My experience with the Artemis practice for my pre-natal care was average, I have no complaints. Sometimes I waited longer in the waiting room, sometimes I waited less, nothing out of the ordinary to me when it comes to medical care. I have always been treated well. The mandatory pre-natal class offered by the birth center, which you pay out-of-pocket for, was excellent. I have already referred family to it. All of the steps required to give birth at the birth center were totally worth it, and I am already considering returning for any future babies.

The Birth Center was exactly the experience my Fiancé and I wanted for our first born baby. Wonderful facility, patient and caring doctors, and an overall amazing experience. My fiancé had a water birth here and the doctors were ready at every step of the process, knowledgable in every way, and listening and patient with everything my fiancé was feeling. We gave birth to a healthy baby boy thanks to Dr. Pemberton, Rosemary, and the team at the birth center. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for the ideal birthing experience. My heart fills with joy just thinking about it. Thanks again.

5 stars! My fiancé and I had our first baby here a few days ago, and the experience has been amazing. I was a patient of the birthing center and its partner OBGYN, Artemis, for the last two-ish months of my pregnancy (I transferred from another OBGYN), and the transition was smooth. Rosemary and the entire staff on both sides (birthing center and OBGYN) are so sweet and professional. They really helped my first pregnancy/delivery go very smoothly. If we still live in the area when we have our next child, we will return 10000%. Their birthing rooms are spacious, super clean, and comfortable. I had a water birth, and the jet tub was spacious and comfortable floating in. The staff took great care of me post-delivery as well and were very gentle with our baby. I also love the family room with the comfy couches and nice snack options lol. 10/10 I absolutely recommend them.
