This barber shop is not your neighborhood standard shop. 100% Japanese with highly skilled Master Barbers and all sorts of lux treatments. I had my son here. And for the first time he was happy with his cut. Toko Ebina was great. She was sensitive to my son’s preferences. She took time to listen to him. High respect here. High quality. High expectations met! We just found our favorite salon! And last thing, even the toilet here is Japanese - so be ready for warm seat and a sprinkling washout of your rear end. Amazing.

Keizo Ozaki is superb. As I’m sure the rest of the team is, but so far I’ve only had the pleasure of working with him. Firstly, I’m in the industry, new to the city, and generally have a hard time trusting folks with my big mustache. From the moment I sat in his chair I could tell I was in good hands, he knew the right questions to ask. I got a standard beard trim for $40. I got multiple hot and cold towels, with a straight razor line up. And he restyling for my hair to put volume into the back where the headrest had flattened it. All with a level of care and attention to detail I have never seen a barber put into a service. Sufficed to say he got a client for the foreseeable future.

I booked the Barbers Grooming service, and whatever it cost, i would’ve paid double. 11/10 experience the entire way through. Mitsuru was a consummate professional, greeted me at the door and worked smoothly and efficiently without ever feeling hurried or rushed. This was the equivalent of a spa treatment for men. The shave was perfect and the facial and head massage were superior. I will never come back to SOHO without booking this service.

I was in town for a few days and decided to treat myself to a trim and shave. I was staying at a hotel on Thompson Street and happened to walk by this place—glad I did. Booking was super easy, though the availability was a bit limited (not surprising for a great spot). On the day of my appointment, I was welcomed by Keizo, my barber, who made the whole experience feel personal and relaxed. From start to finish, it was top-notch. Keizo’s attention to detail and skill were obvious right away. He started with a hair trim—super clean, precise, and exactly what I wanted. Then came the shave, which honestly stole the show. I’m not exaggerating when I say he used at least five hot towels throughout. It felt luxurious, almost like a spa treatment. I actually caught myself thinking, “Maybe I should move to NYC, just for this.” That’s how good it was. Can’t recommend this place enough—and if you can, book with Keizo. I’ll definitely be back next time I’m in town.

there is good, better and best. This shop gives attention to each strand of your hair. Clean, attentive and high-quality haircut. Loved it.

I purchased the Barbers Grooming package and was extremely disappointed by the quality of the shave. The facial and head spa were very nice and relaxing but I was very let down by the actual shave. The barbers technique left me very irritated and bleeding. They went too quickly and did not spend enough time observing the direction of my facial hair. After the head spa the barber attempted to style my hair but it was very sloppy and I had to immediately do it over. I am capable of shaving myself better than the barber did and for such a high price I am very disappointed and will not return.

This is the best barbershop and barbers I've ever had the fortune to visit. Mitsuru and staff run a top notch place, with a relaxing atmosphere and impeccable service. It's astonishing to have a perfect haircut, beard trim, shave and clean-up. I hope I'm a customer for life and that this place remains a New York institution.

My barbershop at 68 Thompson Street in SoHo, NYC means business. This is no ordinary establishment; It is an outstanding experience even before you enter the shop. Their window alone is proof that this Tokyo/New York based business has given it all they’ve got to set the ambiance and bring their Tokyo aesthetic and expertise to NYC residents. From checking in at reception, to the escorting to your private room/booth for your haircut and other grooming needs is just exceptional. Haircuts and other services are outstanding here and even your head gets washed and your neck massaged without you having to leave your chair. The barbers are meticulous and experienced at what they do and all come from Japan together with its overwhelming customs. Most barbers wear 3 piece suits and ties here and are well groomed and know their scissors and skills like the palm of their hands. Amazing is my experience every single time. After you pay and tip (as tips are customary/mandatory in NYC but considered rude in Japan) they open the door for you and your barber escorts you out to the street. It feels like a blissful ceremony every single time; One that you wish you can repeat every single day.

If you want a beard trim you've found the place. Yes, you can get it somewhere else, but it won't be the same. I think the word craftsman is totally appropriate. Definitely a luxury experience. If you're trying to maintain a look or cultivate one this is the place to go. I could make a big list of all the things to rave about. But I'm just going to make this short and say go here. And you'll definitely understand my review.
