As a tourist from Singapore visiting Porto, we were seriously craving some authentic Asian food and came across Thailander in the city center. With so many positive Google reviews, we decided to give it a try — and we’re so glad we did! The food was surprisingly good and very reasonably priced. Every dish was flavorful, well-balanced, and truly authentic. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive — they even checked with us on our preferred spice level, which we really appreciated. In fact, in our opinion, the taste here is even better than some of the Thai restaurants we’ve tried in Bangkok. That says a lot! If you’re in Porto and craving Asian food, especially Thai cuisine, Thailander is definitely a restaurant you shouldn’t miss. Highly recommended!

I went in expecting this to be maybe a 70% imitation of a proper Thai restaurant, and I was happily wrong. The second I walked in, the smell of proper Thai cooking hit me and I knew instantly this place was the real deal. We ate in Porto and ordered the Massaman curry, a vegetable Pad Thai (nice that it’s negotiable depending on what you want), and the wok fried vegetables with rice. Everything was fresh, properly prepared, and unmistakably Thai. The Massaman was rich and comforting, the Pad Thai had real flavour and balance (not overly sweet), and the wok veg was crisp and actually cooked properly, not soggy. Prices were very reasonable for the quality and portion size. I’d come back here again and again and I highly recommend it.

We had read reviews saying this was one of the most authentic Thai restaurants in the city, and well, we had to go and see for ourselves! The menu is incredibly varied and includes dishes that aren't so easy to find everywhere, like Khao Soi. My husband and I opted for this dish with chicken and the pork laab gai salad. In both cases, we were able to increase the spice level (yay for that!). The flavors were PERFECT and truly authentic, not adapted for foreign palates. The portions were really generous, and the service was quick. To finish, we decided to share a mango sticky rice that was out of this world; I'm still dreaming about it.

This was excellent Thai food! Delicious and authentic. The ingredients they used were excellent as well. I had the Thai basil and my wife had a Thai papaya salad and then we had the sticky mango rice for dessert. This was the best Thai food that we've had outside of Thailand. The service was also excellent. Try it!

Excellent cosy food! We had pad Thai, massaman, and Tom yum soup (appetiser not the main), all in shrimp. Everything was delicious. Their chicken is also halal. The staff was so friendly and helpful! There were large groups of Asian families and locals dining there so you could tell it was good before we even ate. It was the perfect end to a chilly night in Porto!

Finally got here. Several people have told me it's the best Thai in Porto. I can confirm myself now. Food was SO good. Decent gluten-free/friendly options. Very nice attentive staff. Atmosphere was chill and pleasant. I had rolls with shrimp and pad see eew with beef. Pad see eew is my favorite Thai dish (or one of them at least) and I haven't found a gluten-free option so far. Thailander is able to make it gluten-free (subbing gluten-free soy sauce for the dark soy sauce) and I was really happy to finally find it. It was delicious It can be hard to get reservations so try to plan ahead. Today is Valentine's Day so i figured they'd be completely booked but we were in the area, so we stopped by just to check. They WERE completely booked but has just had a cancellation so we got lucky. Great food and atmosphere.. Glad i finally got here...will definitely be returning,

Thailander is authentic, delicious, and incredibly clean !! The flavours of every dish are delicious and flavourful - I highly recommend the satay sticks and phad thai. Just one thing to keep in mind is the spice level - for me, a level 3 was quuuuuite spicy (and I can handle spice). When I am in Porto in the future, I will absolutely come again !

Wonderful gem in porto! The staff were so kind and welcoming, would highly recommend if you need some thai food. They also have the the option for thai spicy rather then european spice which I really appreciated and made the spot authentic!! Also had 6 of us so a great option for a large group ☺️

The food here is absolutely amazing, always fresh and beautifully prepared. Every dish is delicious and full of authentic flavour. You can really tell they use quality ingredients. On top of that, the prices are very fair. One of the best Thai restaurants I’ve been to!
