Texas Inn Harrisonburg
About
Burgers, hot dogs, chili bowls and all day breakfast. Good food, served fast, at a reasonable price. That's the secret to our success. The Texas Inn is one of the oldest diners in Virginia, founded in 1935. Now with three locations – Downtown Lynchburg, Cornerstone Lynchburg and Harrisonburg – we still serve “1,500 people, 15 at a time.” Oh yeah, we invented the Cheesy Western. You're welcome. Now proudly owned by the Saunders family, including two JMU grads. #GoDukes

We came here after some exploring around historic Harrisonburg and were craving a snack of onion rings and fries. We ordered the chili cheese fries and onion rings along with some soda. The feel is definitely a diner feel and we enjoyed sitting at the counter and chatting with the service staff. The food came out fast and was made to order. The cheese on the fries is like a nacho cheese taste and consistency and the chili is a meat chili that has a slight kick which was perfect with the cheese and perfectly cooked crinkle cut fries. The onion rings were also cooked perfectly and while had more of a beer batter feel it was not overly thick and had a nice crunch. This was perfect for what we were looking for and we would definitely come again for both the food and the friendly staff!

Old school vibe with a sit at the counter experience that’s hard to beat. Very enjoyable lunch.

The sweetest and friendliest staff!!! This place has a southern diner charm and does not disappoint! Must try, and great if you're on a tight budget! I got their famous Cheesy Western, and it was DELICIOUS 😋

Food was okay. I got cheese fries and it was better than the burger. The sauce on the fries taste similar to the queso they sell at Taco Bell, so I enjoyed it. However, the burger was really disappointing. The buns were completely dry and the patty was smaller than the bun itself. It was also very thin and I expected more for $4.50. Probably would not come here again, but at least the service was good.

Growing up in Lynchburg, VA, the base of the original T-Room, how could I resist a stop at the Texas Tavern in Harrisonburg? What a fun time... I dropped in on an August afternoon (before the JMU students descended for the semester) and had a blast with the staff... listening to them talking fun smack and then joining in. My hot dog was delectable, with perfect crinkle fries. Thanks to Marla and the gang! A+

For my 1st time at this restaurant I very much did enjoy a Hamburger that won 1st place in a contest in Harrisonburg Virginia called The Harrisonburger. The environment was great and very clean and the customer service was great and they were very friendly and the prices were definitely affordable.

It's like prison food, everything single item I ordered looks and tastes like pre-made from yesterday. My Doordash delivery is super fast, but the burgers and hotdogs are as cold as room-temprsture. Even though the price is quite affordable, the food is still not worth it. Also, my fires are missing, they forgot to give me my fries. Please don't order from this restaurant.

I understand that they have to be strict with their policies, especially with the hordes of drunk college kids downtown, but my friends and I were not drinking/being rowdy and were still met with some pretty rude service. Food was overpriced for the quality and I was disappointed when I received my check and saw a $1.50 charge for tap water that I didn't order. I am sure the experience might be different during the day or off season but I can't recommend this as a good late night spot.

Tasty, quick service, great prices. It's everything you want in an all-American food joint. Not recommended for vegetarians unless you're just coming for the onion rings and french fries.

This place caught my husband's eye one night when we were on a date downtown, so we decided to go in. The waiters and cooks were so nice, making conversation and providing a warm welcome to us. The food is always great, and it's definitely one of our go to's. No matter who's working when we go in, they're always friendly. Prices are super affordable as well
