Change or clean the air filters
The most important maintenance task that will improve the efficiency of your air conditioner is to regularly change or clean out any dirty filters. The 1" pleated paper filter should be replaced monthly, while smaller sized ones need to have their status checked every other week at minimum (depending on how often you use them).
